Chomreab suor!

Hello all!

I am here safe and sound in a village near Kampong Cham, Cambodia.  I currently live at an orphanage called New Hope for Orphans. Our typical day consists of waking up at 4:30 am( the roosters wake us up) and then we have breakfast at 7:30. We then get to play with kids, pick up trash on the property and clean until English at 2. We also have English class at 6. On Saturday and Sunday there is worship at 2 o clock and 6 pm.

On Saturday we had a free day and went to see a temple that had monkeys which was fun and then we also went to a coffee shop that supports a ministry that rescues women from sex trafficking. On Sunday we played with the kids and prepared led worship… before we led worship, my teammate Juliana and I were practicing and one of the boys began to translate the song King of my Heart into Khmer.. I tried my best to answer all his questions and then he asked to learn the guitar! I put it in his hands and taught him the 4 chords I know and he practiced and practiced until he got it. He picked up on it so quickly! It’s those “little” moments with the kids that I truly love and enjoy.. the simplicity of life here is amazing and so freeing. People here( in the village) don’t worry about computers and cell phones. The kids go to school and then play with each other. They ride bikes and joke around and clean laundry. The girls love to take naps and race with the boys.

Today, I took a walk down the road barefoot and realized that I want to have barefoot faith. I want to live my life for Christ in such a way that I don’t have to worry if the next step will hurt me or poke my feet and make me uncomfortable. I want to serve him despite the pain that may come. Despite the rocks in the road. Fully dependent on Him who created me. And I have found the only way to get that way is by taking the first step and then another. By putting His word into practice. Gods love is unconditional. And love is an action word.

Thank you all for your support and prayers as I learn to love others the way Jesus does. I am very excited to see all the ways He is going to move and work in others lives.

With all the love in the world, Brooke

One response to “Barefoot Faith”

  1. Barefoot faith. What a great picture God gave you! Thank you for sharing. You have taken the first step in your barefoot faith, you have heard and recognize the yearning. I will pray that like Daniel who purposed in his heart to not defile God that you would purpose in your heart to live out barefoot faith. I can’t wait to see your footprints for Him.

Love this and continuing to pray!
