Part 4: “ persecuted, but not forsaken”

What a week.. After we finished the feet washing, we built a giant camp fire. Once a month we celebrate all the birthdays in that month rather than doing many individual birthdays. So around the campfire we celebrated the April birthdays, and each of the classes of girls prepared a fun dance in teams. It’s was so enjoyable to watch and enjoy and just exist. We sang happy birthday, shared cake, watched dances and sang worship songs.

Towards the end, they had asked my team if we could perform our skit. And perform we did. We did the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego in the fiery furnace.  I played the part of the narrator. I was no Morgan Freeman unfortunately but for having no voice I guess I did pretty good. This story has always been a cool one, but never have I ever cherished it so much till I heard the song Another in the Fire by Hillsong UNITED a couple weeks ago. Now it’s become my anthem. Even when we are all sick, and afraid of what’s next, or stressed and overwhelmed by circumstances, He is still literally standing next to me in the fire holding my hand. Because He walks with me.

And now, with my long drawn out story, to conclude you may be wondering why I titled these last few blog posts the way I did. They are all parts of one verse. 2 Corinthians 4:7-10 says

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; persecuted but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body”

Read this verse again, and reflect back on my story. I don’t need to repeat any of it. There were many parts and lessons to it, yet one thing remains constant. There is Victory in Jesus Name. So even though I am sick and writing this confined to my room, there is a renewed hope. We are under attack by the enemy, yet not defeated. I sincerely hope you have gained something from my time writing this dear reader. I know I have.

Sincerely, B.
